Genesis 11:5-7
But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

My nephew spent the last 4 days with me... He's quite a bundle of energy! We had a BBQ and went to Disneyland and the beach. I'm not sure I could do that full-time - you must need the first 5 years of raising a child to have the strength for the 6th year.

Tender Mercy Jesus

With what name do you label your stuff?
The photo below is of Robert's bike. Robert hangs out in Redondo Beach, he's also got a van that somebody gave him, similarly decorated (I'll have to get a photo sometime). He spends his day trying to tell people about Jesus. Next to his bike is a nice Jaguar with the vanity plate "A CLASSC". Quite a contrast.

Tuesday Prayer Update

I thought I'd start listing the topics of our tuesday missions prayer meeting:
Spain
India (Manja, Irish-Indian-expats in Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka {hey it's close to India!})
Peru
Val's Sister
Hollywood and Nashville

Hollywood's there since Ray got hooked up with some reality show that's being filmed by a christian producer as part of a covert evangelistic outreach...more details as they become available.

Five, part 2.

That's also the number of stones that David selected before going out to battle, in the passage Joseph spoke on this sunday. Remember to approach today in your own armor, not that of others.

V.
That's the number of people that were Baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit on Saturday.

Some news on our trip to Ethiopia- On saturday I reached my support goal! God is faithful! We also got our tickets this week. My shots are scheduled for June 18th...

And this is from Ramon-
Here are the scriptures that are references to Ethiopia which in the NIV is called Cush. The ancient term for Ethiopia/Ethiopian is anyone who lived beyond the upper nile region (Africa, India)

Isaiah 18
Psalm 68:31
Zephaniah 3:10
Jeremiah 13:23

Here are the two ethnicities of the people we will encounter in Addis: Amhara and the Oromo so this maybe something you can use for prayer. These profiles mostly describe the rural people but alot of the students come from this background.
I was out in Temecula on wednesday, and got to see 3 day old Madeline. Check out the proud parents!

New Life

I just got the news that baby Madeline was born to Ben and Carla last
night, and everyone is doing well. Congratulations all around! Maybe
I'll get a picture sometime!
Also there was some new life at church last night, when (a different)
Carla's friend Patty came to know Jesus.

"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever." - 1 John 2:15-17, NIV

Tonight Sean and I met with Chris from Gospel for Asia. He shared about his experiences over the last 3 years working with K.P. and GFA, now he's working on a new project to start 200+ primary schools as a 'bridge' to reach villages for Christ. It sounds like the trial schools have been really effective, so it's time for the next wave.

He quoted the scripture above, maybe I'll preach on it sunday. Since the Kingdom of God has entered this age, my prayer is that my desires for this world would begin passing away.

My friend Ray has been flexing his muscles...

Really, he's been flexing his evangelism muscles. Here he is sharing the word at his birthday party:

The most exciting news of note is from the communion-tent outreach at El Camino College on Tuesday, where he got to lead a girl named Heather to the Lord!

I ran across a few interesting blogs recently:

an anglican priest thinking out loud about church, worship, language, and culture.

a guy from Cardiff Vineyard in Wales.

I was in Wales for 4 months, I guess God had other plans for my time there.
